If you're in the mood for peace and quiet, Helenesee can also be a great place to be in nature with a good book.

Helenesee is situated approximately 8 kilometers to the south of Frankfurt (Oder). It is easy to reach the lake by car, train, bus or bike. You can take a Bus RB36 from Frankfurt (Oder) Bahnhof right to Helenesee. It goes every 60 min and takes 25 minutes. The price is 1.70 EUR. By train, you can take the line RB36 from Frankfurt (Oder) Bahnhof to Helenesee Bhf. It takes 8 min, has a bicycle conveyance and goes every 60 min.

We would recommend you to make a cycle trip to Helenesee! It is approximately 10 km one way from Frankfurt (Oder) Bahnhof. Usually it takes just 40 minutes of cycling. The road goes through the beautiful forest and small lakes. It is not hilly, so you can really enjoy the process :)

Słubicki Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji (SOSiR) which translates to Recreation and Sports Centre in Słubice is a really nice place to spend your free time actively. It's a place where you can run, swim in Olympic-sized open pool, ice-skate as well as play football, golf or mini-golf, tennis and play beach volleyball. There is also a luge track, sauna, gymnastic halls and rejuvenation center. If you're looking to for a nice, affordable, not very crowded place to have fun and spend time with your friends it's a perfect place for you.
Insider tip how to get to SOSiR
It's located near Bazar (aka Polenmarkt), about 2.5 km from the Polish-German border (Grenzbrücke). You can easily reach it BY BIKE, just ride it along the river or you can take the BUS 983 from Frankfurt in the direction Słubice Dworzec Autobusowy, get off on Aleja Niepodległości and have a short walk.
The Ice Ring is open in autumn and winter, 7 days a week from 11:00 to 20:30. It's covered so you can visit it even if the weather outside is not great, is quite big (20mx40m) and has a locker-room. Last season (2017/2018) I visited this place very frequently (at least once/twice a week) because I really enjoyed skating in this place to TOP40 music. During evening hours there were never more than 15 people.

Notice that Mondays and Wednesdays the last period is reserved for hockey practice.
A ticket with student discount costs on Monday-Thursday 2 € (2.50€ without discount) and on Friday-Sunday 2.50 € (3€ without discount) for one period (1.5 hours). If you need to rent ice-skates it costs 2.50 € for a period. If your skates need sharpening you can do it there for 5 €.
The open-air swimming pool is open in July and August, 7 days a week, 10:00 to 18:00. It's a really nice place to spend time during sunny days. There are 4 different pools - 2 for small children, one for non-swimmers (1.2m) and one Olympic-sized pool (50 m long, 1.4 m – 1.9 m deep).
In addition to the pools, there is also a 'beach' place where you can rent chairs, beach umbrellas and tables for a very low price. There are also toilets, changing rooms and a small café.
A ticket with student discount costs 0.50 €, without 1.25€
Mini-golf is a fun game you can play with your friends and family. I find it really relaxing, because it's all about focus, strategy and being precise. The mini-golf place is open from 31st of March to 30th of October, 7 days a week, 10:00 to 18:00. There are 9 different stations, some of them are quite challenging.

Bad Saarow is a spa town in the Oder-Spree district in the state of Brandenburg. The town is located at the Scharmützelsee and is known for its healing thermal spring and the mineral-rich mud, which has been used since 1900 for the curing of skin diseases. The Saarow thermal bath, in Bad Saarow, is directly at Scharmützsel-see, which offers a constant water temperature of 34 - 36 ° C warm brine as well as the largest continuous thermal brine surface of central and northern Germany.
On your birthday you can go there with your ID card and visit the thermal bath free of charge. Every hour, the regional train RB35 departs from Fürstenwalde to Bad Saarow. You can get to Fürstenwalde every half hour from Berlin or Frankfurt (Oder) with the regional train RE1. By car you drive on the A12 and take the exit "Fürstenwalde-West / Bad Saarow". So go there, enjoy the warm water and recharge your power.
The regular entrance fee for the thermal bath is around 15€ to 20 €. Students do not receive a special discount, but the price is worth it!

You can get to Fürstenwalde every half hour from Berlin or Frankfurt (Oder) with the regional train RE1. By car you drive on the A12 and take the exit "Fürstenwalde-West / Bad Saarow". So go there, enjoy the warm water and recharge your power.
The regular entrance fee for the thermal bath is around 15€ to 20 €. Students do not receive a special discount, but the price is worth it!
